Janet Best, mathematics, and John Herbert, chemistry, 2010 Sloan Fellows. The Alfred P. Sloan Foundation annually awards two-year, $50,000 fellowships to stimulate fundamental research by the country’s outstanding early-career scientists. Best is interested in the possibilities of mathematical biology; Herbert focuses on the potential of photochemistry.
